egoldstein says: Gotta think this is the message the democrats will be sticking to on this issue...hard to argue with it. Actually, some very good arguments can be found here, from no less a source than Time magazine. Here is one of the reasons I think this pick was a stroke of genius: It leaves Democrats trying to make the argument of experience...an awkward one for them, at best. At the same time it allows Republicans to focus on issues. Democrats could be faced with uncomfortable questions, such as: 1. Should aborter her Down's baby have been an option for Palin? 2. Why shouldn't we drill in Alaska? 3. What has Obama actually DONE? Not what he says he is going to do...but what has he actually ACCOMPLISHED??? I think Palin comes out a winner on all those questions. And, just for kicks...check this one out. Actually it turns the tables on the republicans and points out that the issue is selecting individuals with intelligence, good decision making, and the ability to work with others. That has always been the case. Palin's decision making is highlighted by here choice to support Pat Buchanan as an independent running for the Presidency. Pat Buchanan has his own page on the Anti-Defamation League's website for his anti-semitic statements against Jews. She has supported Pat Buchanan for many years. Robert Dole, the republican presidential nominee in 1996, probably greatly appreciates her belief in what the republican party stands for......chuckle, snort. Brazilnut, maybe you have been in a liberal country too long? Remember, we are conservative in the States so we don't usually vote women into office that pose for center-fold like photos in f-me pumps . That's more of a Brazilian thing. issue is selecting individuals with intelligence, good decision making, and the ability to work with others. That has always been the case.Let's see here. Obama first. Supposedly Obama has intelligence, except where foreign matters are concerned, that's why he had to pick Joe Biden. Everyone (even the dems) know Obama has ZERO experience in alot of areas, not just foreign. Being a senator means you have to things not just show up and collect a check. Unlike most of congress. Good decision making- Obama has not MADE any decisions yet. Even as senator. Show us all of HIS accomplishments. Talk is cheap. Show us the bills he authored and champoined to fruiti... Mayor of less than 10,000 from a state of less than 700,000 that is an outlier from the rest of the US in so many ways. Oh don't forget she was on the PTA. And I ice fish and snowmobile. Big deal. And the hunters have my support for their thinning of the deer population each year. I myself prefer to photograph animals. How are these things qualifications for VP? dmegivern- Your rebuttal is weak, just like you. You routinely block users who have not even commented on your clips. Pathetic. I said let's see the accomplishments of Obama not your cheerleading for him. If you cannot produce the goods that makes you an even weaker cheerleader. It was a simple request, now let's see action, not words. That's easy. Obama recognized that the invasion of Iraq was a war sold on a pack of lies. On the other hand every republican except Ron Paul and five other republicans got into the marching line behind the war criminals Bush and Cheney. dmgivern is as classless and intellectually pathetic as it gets. Regarding, Begala's remarks. It wreaks of desperation. They have nothing. So attack a mother, hard working laborer, mayor, State Rep, and Governor as having no experience, while ignoring the fact that Obama is a freaking community organizer for goodness sake. It is hilarious. Palin has loads of executive experience. Obama has nothing. As a senator, he has mostly voted "present" and spent the bulk of his time campaigning for president. This clip and the experience issue regarding Palin is surprising to me. The Republicans keep receiving gifts form the left. This is another one. I cannot wait to see Palin debate Biden. Can you... So the republicans are relying on the fact that Palin, when debating Biden will be a know nothing and an easy target for someone with as much foreign policy experience as Joe Biden. Her only defense will be that she is a woman and this is what republicans have staked their whole campaign on? Talk about pathetic and insulting to all women. The fact that all the CNN political analysts (Begala) are bashing her right away tells me it was a good pick. Not to mention the fact that no one is talking about Obama's acceptance speech --- everyone is talking about the McCain VP pick. I can't believe that Libs are going after her on experience and motherhood. Obama has never run ANYTHING in his entire life. The moment he entered the Senate he began running for President. The moment he got out of law school he began running for State office. Has he ever held an executive position? And how on earth can the libs, who are supposed to be the champions of equality for women (a dubious boast at best) go after her for wanting to achieve outside the household. And the intimation that she is going to desert her children is obnoxious and insulting. silly, as usual you are very ignorant. After Obama graduated from law school in 1991 he returned to Chicago (where he had been living and working for 5 years previous to going to law school) and was a community advocate starting training programs and also teaching constitutional law at the University of Chicago. Nothing is more obnoxious than your complete lack of, and disregard for, THE FACTS. No one on this forum has attacked Palin for wanting to work outside of the household. That is absolutely ridiculous. We have attacked McCain for being a whoremonger and a gold digger and have pointed out that Palin has ZERO international experience but could be called on to replace the 72 year old McCain should he suddenly pass away. |
