 AtlLiberal says: Using inflammatory, emotion laden language gauged to stir anger among the Religious Right, Randall Terry spews forth his usual brand of god-inspired, holier than thou bile, to justify the killing of another human being. Granted, he's on the fringe. The sad fact is that I hear justifications that Terry makes aped by his less vitriolic as well. By and large, they all hinge on religious dogma. Not on fact, not on science, but on arbitrary rules set forth by religious authorities. You can bet that most of the anti-choicers are going to claim, publically, what a terrible event the murder was and that they do not support such vigilante action, but don't think for a second that many of them aren't smiling behind their hands and high-fiving each other in private. I'm sad to say that I agree with you. Much insincere lamentation in public but knowing winks behind closed doors. And we may even see a brief lessening of vitriol from the ilks of O'Reilly who, much to his shame, has repeatedly used inflammatory rhetoric directed towards Dr. Tiller. But don't for a minute believe that it will have a lasting effect. Don't you know? O'Reilly, Terry and the others weren't "inflammatory" - they were all "quoted out of context". You'd think these guys had never heard of tape recording. You'd think these guys had never heard of tape recording.To say nothing of the Intertubes. Or The Google! The Republican resistance to acceptance of new technologies, for the short run at least, may damage them greatly. Their anachronism is fine fodder for late night comedians but a serious handicap in a nation that is fast adapting to a society were a collective recall of actions and statements is only a click away. Yet they stick to their legendary philosophy that a lie repeated often enough becomes accepted fact. Too bad for them the general population has begun to see through their subtrafuge.
