Well there is always the option of having your own solar /wind generator, that way you use your own money and the unility companys can stop robbing you.
One homeowner in the city where I live got so fed up with Unitils ever increasing rates with no improvement in service,they decided to have their own windmill.
The electric company has to PAY them every month for the energy surplus their creating.
