Socratoad says: WTF! This really boggles my mind! What next, a motorcycle or trip to Europe just for getting out of bed? I guess they were really rewarding staying in school because of the high drop-out rate. Education is really wasted on the young if they have to be rewarded and bribed in order to attend. IMO they should be teaching more about civic responsibility and values. Trying to provide incentive for students to do well academically is very noble, but if only a few students will receive these big-ticket items, then the rest of the student body will not be motivated. The whole school knows which students will have a shot at getting the car, and the students who already have good attendance are not the ones that need to be persuaded to come to class. This will not motivate the academically-in-danger students; they know from the start they wont get it. If the school took the same money and found cheaper incentives, to encourage a bro... |
