This is from faguogene's "Why I use Clipmarks"

I would love to better understand his point of view. I have always felt that clipmarks could help people better understand each other and know more about the world. I'm wondering if this is what faguogene has in mind.

We definitely need to build intra-site messaging on the site so that questions like this could be asked directly. For now, i wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone else had opinions on it.

It is very good reason indeed. I never thought about it but -thanks to Faguogenes- I can see Clipmarks as a multidimensional bridge. It bridges over distances, political differences, religions, different view of life. In many cases the clip is just the spark that starts a long thread. When that happens, the comments take the stage. They become now the substance of the clip.
I have presence in Blog and other social-networking sites, but for me Clipmarks is the #1 because of that. The clippers participation. Keep up the good job! This "bridging" is fantastic.

I agree with Faguogene. CM has & is still helping me to understand about other countries & their cultures. Untill I joined CM, all I had were bits and pieces in my head that I either read somewhere or heard from friends. Now I come to know of things firsthand from people of different countries...."bridge" is an excellent word to define it

When we think that there are only complementary views and no oppossing views then we are building the bridge. see clip "Teachings (spiritual) of Abraham".
it may sound a bit unrealistic, but the Chinese Yin/Yang philosophy conveys the same idealogy:
"the yin is the 'opposite' of yang and vice versa.
And yet there is yin within yang and yang within yin. Thus the bridging the differences.
The similiarity bridges the differences.
We may have very different 'opposing' views, but in reality are they but parts of a bigger truth.
when we are ready for truth then we are ready for an delightful, engaging, knowledge-enhancing sharing of informations and viewpoints. i am not preaching not tryi...

michellezm, how about 'Good' and 'Bad'? Can we build a bridge?

I sometimes clip things for that exact reason and I have always been aware of clipmarks global opportunities. I use them all the time! Once I didn't know the difference between Sunni and Shia for example. I clipped something mentioning the two and then just asked! My fellow clippers came to my rescue and I had the answer in a jiffy, short and sweet, straight from folks who knew. It can't get any better than that. .

Ha ha! I was just thinking... Future world leaders should all submit themselves to a clipmarks debate and see how well they hold up against us, so to speak. ALL of us. (Politics has global consequences these days anyway, so EVERYONE should get to decide) They could clip some speech they want to hold for us (video would be nice) and we get to take it apart afterwards in the comments. Which ever leader got the most pops, got elected. Global democracy. One pop = one vote. Oh my goodness that could be so much fun!! *LOL*

(PS) I bet the politicians would never have the courage to take us on. We're goood!

Sorry! Sometimes I get carried away... *LOL* But anyway, debates with "people in the news" would be fun though! Pops, as in a polls instead.

Sideqik, I'm afraid not - they're mutually exclusive.

Now I don't even have to read the foreign news, Clipmarks is way better. The clips provide the news and the comments makes for an in-depth look. Yes, it somehow bridges east and west. That's why we call the Clipverse.
