Over the past few years, thanks to Clipmarks and Amplify, i've had the opportunity to read a lot of clips about how the brain works. I'm fascinated by how powerful it is and how responsible it is for so much human activity - not just cognitive, but emotional as well.

If others don't take advantage of the discoveries to instill even more fear in people and control them that way (Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, etc.) plus a bit more pressure on the general public to keep them under control.

Is not Fear the basis from which every other emotion develops from?

No. Fear is designed to save life so it instantly raise alert condition in front of a danger. Sometimes we can underestimate or overestimate it by various reasons, first of all because of the condition of our bodies, brain including. That is one of the most important tasks: correct and instinctive measuring the level of danger in any situation. We can look into brain chemistry or scary neurological caudal nuclei, but the solution usually much more simple and trivial.
