egoldstein says: What can he say now? My alarm clock woke me up to a discussion about the US targeting Somalia and when I dropped my daughters off at their babysitters on the news on the television there was talk about increasing the troops in Iraq. I just wonder when and if we possibly are spread too thin already. I know these times are tough. But this war for freedom, this war against terror, is a war for our future, for our children's future. Make no mistake, what we decide here, to stand up to the thugs, to those who hate us and our way of life, or to cut and run, will decide the fate of our nation. We are a nation that from George Washington, to Lincoln; From Teddy Roosevelt to Ronald Reagan, which has stood-up for and defended good, stood-up for and defended freedom, a nation that has been the hope and dreams of millions of those threatened by the very thugs and terrorist that we fight today. Should such a nation run from its duty, its duty to the frightened, the threatened and the powerless? ... kmcolo, how did you know?! You've ruined the surprise. We are also a nation who has the wisdom to recognize a mistake when we make it, and to acknowledge that a large scale ground war which destabilizes a region has nothing to do with a "war on terror." What can he say now? Bush the Decider can announce himself as Bush the Dictator, under powers granted to him to deploy and control the national guard within the boundaries of the states, I suppose. kmcolo, no matter the cause or the opponent, there is great wisdom in the notion of knowing when to pick one's battles. As a clip recently pointed out, more people are killed by peanuts than we have lost to terrorists, so I suppose we should launch a war on peanuts, too. You lose all credibility in your position, IMHO, when you site our success through "our faith in God". ericskiff & bartendingbear: Too much thought, try again. As a clip recently pointed out, more people are killed by peanuts thanThat's a brilliant comparison, BartendingBear! IMHO, you lose all credibility with that asinine statement. "You want me on that wall...you need me on that wall!" It's pointless to continue this Terror on Terror. Using terrorism under the name "war" will never end terrorism, as war and terrorism are the same thing. Only the abolition of war will put an end to it. Sparlingphoto, name calling makes your statement asinine. Ad hominem attacks are illogical, and never make you look smarter. Again, a crybaby conservative calls his opponent a doodiehead because he never learned how to make a decent argument. It's pointless to continue this Terror on Terror. Using terrorism under the name "war" will never end terrorism, as war and terrorism are the same thing. Only the abolition of war will put an end to it.According to that logic, 9-11 couldn't have happened because we had no war under Clinton. We didn't have an abolition of war movement under Clinton, either. The terrorism we face now is a result of the war we've waged in the past. If we had not commit such things before, we'd be safer now. If we begin to work towards a non-violent future, we'll see less attacks as time goes by. Not that we're really seeing any right now, anyways. It's pointless to continue this Terror on Terror. Using terrorism under the name "war" will never end terrorism, as war and terrorism are the same thing. Only the abolition of war will put an end to it.Amen! According to that logic, 9-11 couldn't have happened because we had no war under Clinton.9/11 was the second Pearl Harbour which was needed to make the US masses ready for war. And once again: There is no evidence that 9/11 has been an attack of terrists or the so-called "Al-Quaida". "Al-Quida" didnt even exist before 9/11. It's more than possible that the attacks have been planed by or have been knowingly done by the CIA and the criminals of the BuSSh administration. Haha, it never ceases to amaze me how much belief these 9-11 conspiracy theorists have in the administration to pull off the biggest and most complicated coverup in the history of the world. The "conspiracy" is the theory that was put up by Bush. Whatever. I just know that while I don't believe that Bush is an idiot like some lefties like to call him (funny how calling someone an idiot after they beat you seems to be a leftist theme), I don't think he is nearly the evil mastermind it would take to pull of and then cover up 9-11 this long. Neither are some poor equipped arabs who wavent even been on the flights... N2, nobody said Bush caused 9/11. However, he did take advantage of it for personal gain by fighting two unjustified pre-emptive wars. And it's funny how the members of the Conservative Christians and Corporations Party call the left idiots whether they win or not, and whether they have any proof for their claims or not. Call us sore winners (if you can call it a win to have more centrists in Congress), but at least we provide evidence when we open our mouths. poor chap! sometimes I feel a bit saddened for him! carrying all the hatred in the world single-handedly... seriously, what is there for him to say anymore? we all know that he can only twist around a few words, this way or that way...an excuse tor aggression and self-destruction! |
