You wouldn't believe how many people I've argued with over this sort of thing. Doesn't even matter how many times you dispel their misinformation like scientists in the 1970's predicted an ice age. Or they'll misrepresents facts like the winter ice recovery in the polar regions was larger than the melt - which turned out to them not understanding the numbers which were indicating the melt was less than previous years but still higher than the last 50 years.

It's kinda sick how hard people hang onto what they want to believe even when it flies in the face of facts.
