China has executed an activist who was charged with "attempting to split the motherland". </P><P class="wallacepara">
A Uighur activist from China's far-western Xinjiang province has been executed.</P><P class="wallacepara">
He was found guilty of possessing firearms and explosives as well as attempting to "split the motherland". </P><P class="wallacepara">
Ismail Semed was alleged to have been a founding member of the separatist East Turkestan Islamic Movement, but human rights groups say the evidence against him was flimsy. </P><P class="wallacepara">
In court, he alleged his confession was coerced. </P><P class="wallacepara">
