debbyski says: Look how far we have come as human beings! It wasn't so long ago that gays were reviled as "fags" or "queers" and homosexuality was considered, and treated as a psychological disorder and gays and lesbians did not dare admit their sexual orientation for fear of losing their jobs. Sure, some evangelical ministers will continue to denounce homosexuality from the pulpit and urge parishioners to join them in denying equal rights to gays and lesbians. And some poor misguided souls will blindly agree. But their hate speech will eventually fail because their crusade to treat gays and lesbians as second-class citizens is WRONG and the vast majority of Americans will choose equality every time. Okay, my opinion of him just shot way up! Fact remains, gays are a distinct minority in not only this country but every human culture. Why should a minority's lifestyle and demands so affect the majority. Let's say there are 0.00001% of Americans who are consumed with sucking the toes of elephants. Do you think it possible that courts would allow marriages of these couples (maybe in goofy California). How about allowing marriages between farmers and their beloved sheep? I think you have to look back to the standards by which this country was founded, examine the moral foundation of the majority of Americans, and then deduce what is the legal definition of marriage. If the country was founded by persecuted gays from Rotterdam, ... OK Pkonfield, Now listen ya sexy little skinhead, and I'll try to pound some sense in between those two ears Your logic is rather what shall I say; flawed. It's only hetero guys on stranded lonely farms like say in maybe Texas? that wanna marry sheep sugar. Now try to bear in mind that ppl are different. Let me quote this guy I really admire: All human beings are all human. Men and womane, homosexual persons and heterosexual person, all races, nationalities, and persons of any ethnic background, all rich and poor, old and young. How can I enslave, segregate, denigrate, oppress, violate, or victimize? And as more and more courts are c... Fact remains, gays are a distinct minority in not only this country but every human culture. But we are not every country. We are THIS country... a country which is dedicated (supposedly) to freedom & liberty. Why should a minority's lifestyle and demands so affect the majority. I have yet to see any proof of any detriment to the majority caused by two loving people being married. Your argument is as sensible as the banning of two blond people marrying. There is no inherent derogatory outcome from the marriage event. Let's say there are 0.00001% of Americans who are consumed with sucking the toes of elephants. While I believe there is a distinct separation between the idea of polygamy and the perverted practices of it portrayed in the media, and the fact that I really don’t give a hoot personally about its practice between consenting adults, the institution of marriage arguably should allow for it. I am not championing that cause here, only extending the rationality of logic to the obvious. If the country was founded by persecuted gays from Rotterdam, and the basis of the U.S. was specifically a refuge for persecuted gays, and the majority of the country were gay people, then the institute of marriage might look completely different. (wouldn't last more than a couple of generations, though... debby.... HUZAAH! Keep on trucking.... The problem is religion interfering in government yet again. Same with abortion. Same with race. I've been around long enough to have lived through the dreaded "divorce" controversy and that has gone the way of the normal thing to do. Breaking ground in an open society has always had its growing pains. That's what makes it worth doing in the first place. When opponents to change finally get used to the ideas that are different from the so-called "norm" they just fade away like any other unjust causes. Anyway, we've already got too many friggin' insane laws. I say to all gays and such to keep up the good fight and don't let religious zealot's bunch your panties! However..... City Hall does prevent marriages between relatives. Let's say a brother and sister wish to marry. There you have a hetero couple wishing to join in matrimony. The state steps in and sez no no no. So the state does have a right to dictate which couple will marry and which shall not. Therefore, on that basis, I think the state has every right ot define marriage as a union between man and woman (not related), and stand by that. We are dealing with semantics here. Go ahead, allow gay to join. Give them property sharing rights (who in their right mind would actually want to do something like that anyway?? Oh, yes, John Kerry and his katsup kween heiress). Just don't call it marriage. Call it the Abominable Union. Oh come on Pkonfield! You are being FUCKING ridiculous! And I think you are doing it on purpose. OK cutie. You're right. Trolling. I think all gays should marry. We should allow liberals to abort all their babies any time they want. That way in two generations there will be no more gays or liberals! At least you called me cutie pumpkin! hahahahaha cutie pumpkin???!!! ok, I'll go bolder . . . sexy better??? Yeah! Thanks hon! Where the hell is margaritaville these days? Well, I'll let you guys at Clipmarks know soon. I'm gonna reside there this coming Tuesday Lord willin' for a couple of months. It's about time for me to have some major fun in my life Texas???!!!
