I'm not clear about where the privacy leaks are here. This is an opt-in service, with the ability to self-select what you post and whether you want your posts to be part of the public stream. While it is true that I get some spitter (spam + twitter) befriendings, it is also true that you can block any users you don't want to be associated with and can choose not to reciprocate friendship (so you don't get your own stream muddied). The blog post pre-dates the block option, so maybe that helped address this concern.

I'm not a private-stream tweeter, so I hadn't ever heard of a glitch that had friends lists adding people to a personal stream. Followers, yes ... but it's not like they would be...

Followers, yes ... but it's not like they would be able to see a private stream (it's friends only, and the author has to approve a friendship). I keep my own group of friends reasonably small so I'm not overwhelmed with updates all day.
