I've been waiting to see what kind of growing pains they would face. Up til now it's seemed to be pretty smooth sailing, but nothing is simple in the social webiverse.

I'm not clear about where the privacy leaks are here. This is an opt-in service, with the ability to self-select what you post and whether you want your posts to be part of the public stream. While it is true that I get some spitter (spam + twitter) befriendings, it is also true that you can block any users you don't want to be associated with and can choose not to reciprocate friendship (so you don't get your own stream muddied). The blog post pre-dates the block option, so maybe that helped address this concern.

I'm not a private-stream tweeter, so I hadn't ever heard of a glitch that had friends lists adding people to a personal stream. Followers, yes ... but it's not like they would be...
