How Ironic. He's still a teenager himself- Its not the same as what the law was intended. He's not a sex offender he had a judgement issue. Yes, reprimand him but don't label and persecute him. The higher your horse:the farther you fall I agree, it was a judgement issue. But 18 is an adult. One of the problems in our society is that we treat adults like kids long after they should have taken responsibility for their actions; in this case, breaking the law. wiccantexan, 18 is an adult legally, 17 isn't. So how exactly are 18 year olds more responsible than 17 year olds. Actually, it turns out people are "more" fully developed (especially the region responsible for judgement) around 21. I don't really see a point, the difference between both the individuals is only 4 years. I agree By the time they ARE 18, they should be more prepared for adult responsibilities. I see things like "cradle-robber" when Demi Moore (40) dates Ashton (26) as if he's still a KID; when exactly do we start expecting them to be ADULTS?! At 18, my own daughter went off to college on her own. She's now 24 with a Masters, and held a job most of that time as well. So don't tell me that they can't be responsible by that point. And the 21 "more fully developed" point? BS. Not so very long ago, before the "me-me-me find-myself" generation, 21 was the age many were married with families. I stand on my statement; 18 is an adult. The difference is, we give them a gold star for not picking ... I wholeheartedly agree with you Wiccantexan. He is an adult. I feel so sorry for his father. I can only imagine the embarassment. Poor man loses his daughter so tragically, and now his idiot son does this. |
