Though the reasoning given for awarding Obama the Nobel Peace Prize is, well, noble, i kind of had the same reaction as expressed in this clip. Seems like he's getting the award for having good intentions. Hopefully the results will match the intentions. If so, then at that time i would think he'd be worthy of this award.

Are you really this aloof? Good grief!

Guess who were the only 2 SITTING presidents to get the Nobel Peace Prize. I'll give you a hint...They are the 2 I speak about the most and the most insidious Progressives in American History.... 1. Theodore Roosevelt and 2. Racist, Fed Creating, League of Nations, Journalist political prisoner holding, war-socialist theorizing, Prog-Fascist Woodrow Wilson.

Do you really believe the Nobel Peace Prize has the slightest credibility?

Theodore Roosevelt (five years on the job)
Woodrow Wilson (six years on the job)
Jimmy Carter (more than two decades after the job)

They all had track records. Obama's award is simply the projection of wishful thinking.

I wouldn't give him an A. Maybe we should be grading him on a curve and say we approve of his job performance so long as no one is getting nuked.

I wonder does this cast suspicion on the authenticity of the other Nobel winners. The "prize" lost it's luster for me when Carter was given it.

Maybe they just felt sorry for him since he looked like such a fool after the Olympic fiasco

I suspect those in Nobel Committee have slightly different way of thinking, dear...

LOL.....yeah right. He will put right beside his teleprompter for daily adorations, in case an hour goes by where someone doesn't tell him how wonderful he is.

throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

American response appears to be ungrateful. In any other country, there would be street jubilation over such honor. There's nothing bigger than Nobel when it comes to man-made achievements and appreciations.

Guess that makes these guys terrorist sympathizers too...

Glenn Greenwald:

there are simply no meaningful “peace” accomplishment in his record — at least not yet — and there’s plenty of the opposite. That’s what makes this Prize so painfully and self-evidently ludicrous.

Peter Beinart:

I like Barack Obama as much as the next liberal, but this is a farce. He’s done nothing to deserve the prize.

Ezra Klein:

How long till the Nobel Committee just gives up the ghost and names “you!” the winner of the peace prize?

The short list, how many months in office?

1. Withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.
2. Focus on al-Qaeda and Pakistan
3. Jump starting peace talks in the Middle East with a designated US envoy.
4. Reducing tensions with Russia and discussions about nuclear disarmament.
5. Negotiations with Iran without raising the specter of war.
6. Reducing tensions with Cuba including facilitating remittances to Cuban citizens by their relatives.
7. Engaging the world on climate change and other environmental issues.

Hopefully this recognition of pre-emptive peace stops us waging more pre-emptive wars and ending the ones we are now engaged in!

let's consider who the Nobel Committee considered less worthy than Barack Hussein Obama to receive to Nobel Peace Prize:
Chinese Human Rights Activist Hu Jia - imprisoned for campaigning
for human rights in the PRC, not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.
Wei
Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of
China's communist system. -- not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.
(Not to mention the symbolic value of awarding a Chinese dissident on
the 20th Anniversary of the Tianenmen Square Massacre.)
Greg
Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute has built nearly 80
schools, especially for girls, in remote areas of ...

It's absolutely ridiculous to give the prize to Obama. He's the Commander-in-Chief of a country waging three wars! And how could Obama get the prize, when the nominations had to be in by February 1st, just weeks after he took office?? It's a friggin' disgrace.

I would look pretty silly if they had to take it away from him...kinda like the Olympic fiasco.

He promised to donate the $$ to charity. How about the national debt?

TN nailed the key point that Americans do not even discuss. This is right on the mark.

Many are crying "Peace, peace, while there is no peace".
