Lexica says: Kale is one of my very favorite vegetables. I often think about Kale, but i never end up buying it--i'm not real sure what to do with it. Maybe i should check out my Moosewood Cookbood, maybe she has a recipe in there (i haven't looked in a while). She does have some good ones, though--ave you ever tried her recipe for Lentil-Bulgur salad? It's a lot of work, but it's so delicious! uhh, that was supposed to be, 'have' you ever checked out... I can remember my Grandmother going out to the woods to get some greens. She'd come back with about a dozen different kinds. She'd wash them real good, put them in a pan with a little water and bacon grease, a little salt and boil them. They were delicious. Not too many people would be able to do that anymore, simply because they don't know their wild greens. Yup, i think you're right there. I think you can cook kale that way, too. Actually have bacon in there, too, and pepper--i think i saw that done on tv. I said a while ago about having some borscht soup, but made with the greens rather than the beets. My mouth waters whenever i think of that soup (i love soups). I like hearing those stories, Chez. I've actually read a few books involving Native Americans. Sacajawea, Long Knife, and a few others. I always found the stories (based on real people) fascinating. And other stories where Natives weren't featured, but were part of the story, such as the Lonesome Dove series. Thanks lolli, |
