This issue is very truly one of the roots of present failure of the American experiment. Now that you've brought it up, I have to go make a couple of clips about it. I hope you follow and click on the link to read the entire article by Thom Hartman..it is well worth it.. Corporate Personhood is one of the worst things to ever happen to America and the American people..! There's something wrong with the legal system, when Exxon-Mobil is considered a person in the eyes of the law, but the Earth has no legal standing. Abolishing corporate personhood in legal terms would destroy the engine that has raised the health and quality of life for every single person on the globe. Its simply another avenue of attack by socialism/communism in trying to destroy individual rights and the ability to accumulate capital for economic advancement and profit. What? Do you know what a "corporation" is? Its a fiction of the law, and such straw men do not need to be elevated to legal equivalent of citizens. Your claim is bogus to say the least. Once again I summon the wisdom of the "Ye Olde Dictionary". From Black's Law Dictionary: corporation, n. An entity (usu. a business) having authority under the law to act as a single person distinct from shareholders who own it and having rights to issue stock and exist indefinitely; a group or succession of persons established in accordance with legal rules into a legal or juristic person (emphasis mine) that has legal personality distinct from the natural persons who make it up, exist indefinitely apart from them, and has the legal powers that the constitution gives it. |
