Forbes Business says: Celebrity memoirs are a dime a dozen, but Shaffer's tome could prove to be a fun read. He's best known as David Letterman's sidekick, knowingly swapping lame lines to make his boss look good. But he's also got amazing connections throughout the music industry, having backed countless musical guests on Letterman, serving as musical director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and playing on recording sessions for Robert Plant, Yoko Ono, Marshall Crenshaw and many others. He also played keyboards for the house band on Saturday Night Live during that show's early years. More good news -- Shaffer's book will be co-written by David Ritz, who co-authored Ray Charles' must-read autobiography Brother Ray, penned a definitive biography on Marvin Gaye and has collaborated with a long list of other musical figures on their memoirs. - Louis Hau I expect there will be many good stories in his memoir. Paul Shaffer is so well-connected. I love reading biographies, and I look forward to reading this one. |
