Per capita oil consumption is a telling measure of sustainability. The lower the level, the more sustainable a society is which means India and China are far more sustainable, than Western countries. The economic industrialisation policies practiced are making these societies less sustainable. They are in a good position to lead the world towards a more sustainable de-industrialised model.

Let's see those consumption figures from other well respected sites please. The oil drum is not the world's authority on the issue. Last I checked China's consumption is WAY higher than those figures show. And a recent report shows China taking the lead in CO2 emissions as well.
