China must use a huge amount of oil, mining and transporting all that coal. Freezing, while the price of food goes up and up, are the wages of China's economic boom times. People will naturally begin to feel that State capitalism is not the way. Socialism, environmentalism and authentic Chinese values and culture may seem more attractive than the Western marketplace. One can only hope.
