agirlanddherdogs says: where is freedom of expression????? Next earrings will be banned, then certain hairstyles, makeup, nail polish, and then what - names? Will we all eventually just become numbers (like in "A Brave New World"). It's JUST hair color!!! (sigh) Unfortunately some of the things you mentione on possibally banned have already been banned in some schools. How sad! (I'm 30 so I've been out of school for a while, and we have no children yet, so this is all news to me!) Where will it stop? Jeebus! Ah, forgive my ignorance but I was always under the impression that rights were not applicable until one reaches the age of sufferage. In the US, people under 18 do have rights but they are more limited than those of legal adults. This is the ACLU's webpage on student rights, for more information: http://www.aclu.org/studentsrights/index.html |
