I understand your viewpoint ratilfar. With so many horrible things going on in the world, why worry about a few cats and dogs? Well, I sort of see it like this. Evil and inhumanity do not come about all of a sudden in people. It's introduced. It is culture, upbringing, desensitizing and stuff like that, that makes helps make cruelty acceptable. If you start to accept horror being done to animals, you are on a slippery slope to accepting horror being done to other things. To other people even.

People start to acclimatize to it. They start to justify it. Maybe they were ugly dogs? Annoying cats? As people do evil to other people, they will also try to justify it. Maybe they were blacks. Or M...

Or Muslims. Or something else. Some could say, yes they were only cats and dogs, but that would justify someone equally saying, they were just blacks or just Muslims. A mindset of treating life, (any life) with anything less than empathy and compassion is not acceptable to me. Life should not be graded according to *worth*, but a man's intent should.

A lot of serial killers start out by torturing animals. Society must condemn ALL cruelty, or we risk getting too used to it. In a case like this, there was no need for the horrendous way these animals were dealt with, other than sadistic ones. These animals if it at all was necessary, could have been put down humanely. What sort of person would do something as described? I don't want people like that on the streets, around children or around anybody else! Who says they stop at mistreating animals? A zero tolerance approach is imperative against ALL inhumanity and cruelty. I hope you understand what I mean. (?)
