skwirlinator says: Couldn't clip what I wanted because it was over by over 10,000 characters Another clip focused on the comment stream. In firefox, with the clipmarks extension On the pulldown there is a choice for classic view This takes you to ALL CLIPPERS and starts you on the popular tab There are 3 more tabs POPs Newest and Comments I surf the comments tab when looking to see what is new. IT also gives me an idea of who is online The popular and pops tabs may or maynot tell you who is active but I don't use them because if a clip is being commented on its popular to me. If you surf the comments tab: If you read a clip and the comments and want to comment but have no time right now there is a way to make it stay available to you for future comments In the comments box, put a smilie or a LOL or even a letter or number and add the comment to the stream. This puts the clip in your comments tab on your profile. Most of the time I check my comments first so I can keep abreast of changes in comments on clips I am interested in. The newest tab for ALL CLIPPERS is the best way to see what the newest clips are. I use this tab if there are many clippers commenting and I want to see if they are currently adding clips. I look for my clippers and try to pop their clips ... On my google homepage I have clipmarks as a bookmark I used the pulldown for classic view and clicked 'MY PAGE' and saved that address to my bookmarks. Now when I click the link I go directly to MY PAGE showing my most recent clip. It also allows me to see, in the rt panel, all the action on my clips. If I click on one of those it takes me to my clip to see the action on that clip. It also gives me a sort of all the most recent actions on my other clips. I don't use that much. On MYPAGE in the Comments tab is spend 80% of my time. This is where I see my clips AND others clips that I have commented on. If I am in a comment stream with someone I can tell by looking at the most recent commenter name as to whether the comments have been updated. The newest comments by anyone are always at the top. When I type just LOL or % or 1 or kpyf in a comment it sends it to this tab. This is the best tab to surf because it gives me action on the clips I am interested in. There are some other things I use on my page too If you hit the tags tab it opens a pulldown of the tags that you have used. If you click a tag it takes you to YOUR clips that you tagged. I use this to find clips instead of doing a search. The clipcasts tab is a pulldown to your collections. I have way too many collections but if you think of them as folders you will find that they too are faster than searching. If you save someone elses clip you can save it to your folders and it becomes accessible by this tab easily. I have never used the date tab. With firefox and the BBCode Xtra extension you can right click on a title and save link location then highlight a section of your comment and rt click, at the top- choose bbcode xtra arrow out to clipboard that will arrow out and then choose make selection URL to create a link out of the selection. Like this On your MY PAGE you can sort the clips and comments tabs further using the pulldown arrows - ITs self explanitory once you are aware of them. On MYPAGE the pops tab gives you only your most recent pop on anyones clip, not the most recent of your clips to be popped. If you click the clips tab you can see the most recent pops on your clips in the rt panel. Click one of those links to take you to the list and the clip. Here is a handy feature Choose a clipcast(folder) and keep clipping the next link at the bottom until you display all the clips in that folder. At the top it tells you how many clips you have in that collection. Since it shows you both the public and private clips it allows you to reclip any clip that went private due to character count. I usually label these as reclips in the title so I know which ones I changed from private to public I have my clipmarks set up on my google account. Every comment is saved in my gmail and is automatically tagged and archived. I have every comment on every clip. Sometimes I go back and read them and use the link to open the clip in clipmarks. A simple LOL will send that ancient clip to the top of the comment sort field and kinda revives it for everyone. Sometimes I revisit a page and clip it again. Cause I'm too lazy to look. Its ok because they are my clips. If you see someone has clipped the same stuff as you did, don't get angry, take comfort in knowing that someone else thinks it was clipworthy too. What sucks is when You clip something and someone else clips the same thing and they g... Wow! You have been busy today! Thanks for the tips! Sweet post! Sweet post!Indeed. From a sweet man. (Skwirl, for extricating me (whether it was intentional or not) from a difficult clip with remarkable gentleness, tact and sensibility, I thank you) You're welcome. There is always an out. Sometimes we make things more difficult than they need to be. Great job. Thanks skwirlinator for the expert shortcuts and EZ tips. BBCode Xtra extension is new to me. I'm going to try it. Merrie, BBCodeXtra is very helpful if you do many message boards. But most of the features work in clipcomments as well. Sure beats typing codes. You won't be able to post pictures here but in the first pulldown you have options for bold, italics and underline. There are more features too. Just play with it and you will see. Definitely everyone should browse the 'newest clips' tab occasionally. You can find some real gems from brand new clippers.Don't forget that it is a sort of all NEWEST CLIPS. Its a nice way to track who is currently actively clipping. It also helps you to see the whole collection in series of clips in a certain subject. I do clipsequences that are often only partially viewed which usually leaves the sequence broken and meaningless. This page allows you to see the sequence as it is clipped. If you click on a person's screenname it takes you to their profile. It opens to their page of most recent clips. It tells you how many clips they have made too. If you click the comments tab you can see all the most recent comments they have made on other people's clips. Each comment has a timestamp and lets you see if they are currently active. When debating with a person, I open a new tab on their profile and watch their comment streams. If there is a pause in the debate I will check to see if they are commenting on other related clips. This gives me the ability to see into their current mindset and allows me to debate more effectively. When revitalizing a debate with someone you can use ... If you get interested in a person because of their clips, pops or comments you can visit their profile and use the clipcast pulldown to see where their interests are. It is often a great way to build a friendship on clipmarks. It helps you to find common interests and allows you to understand that person better. It also gives you the opportunity to visit more websites you have interest in. Looking at the DATE pulldown you can assess a clippers activity. If you see that they are clipping on only the weekend you can most likely get realtime discussion at on those days. If you notine that every month, every Wednesday they don't visit, its safe to say they are not ignoring you, they just have other things going on. This is another tool that helps you learn clipper's personalities. The better you know a person the better you can understand their commenting patterns. You get much richer debates, less incorrect assumptions. One more for now: If you use tabbed browsing is allows you to experience clipmarks to a richer more fulfilling degree. here is what I do. My first tab is my page next I open a tab that displays the latest comments The next tab is the latest clips The remaining tabs are for profiles that I am actively in discussion with.
