thisnamecantbetaken says: Harsh words! But isn't there a grain of truth to it? More at the source. Grain!? We're already there. Welcome to the Teather of Absurd, my dear citizens of world. They took Washington at least 8 years ago. At least. It's sort of pathetic to see how easily people give up. It's also "weird," to see such attitudes when the new Obama Administration has made great strides in favor of the average person and on the verge of historic changes in a national health care system, massive programs for alternative energies, job creation programs, more power to the unions, equal pay laws for woman, another woman and minority on the U.S. Supreme Court, etc. Maybe you could just wait a bit and give up in a month or two -- or just give up and no need to tell the world about how hopeless things are and how you want to flee the country or flee the world. Perhaps pick something to fight for, to advocate, and work for it s... Obama has NOT revoked any of the sweeping powers awarded to the presidency, under Bush. He ha NOT stopped the practice of extraordinary renditions. He has NOT restored Habeus Corpus He HAS vastly expanded surveillance and wire-tapping. He HAS expanded the military budget. He HAS escalated the war in Afghanistan and into Pakistan. Despite his promises of transparency, he has NOT allowed disclosure of the torture memos. He has NOT called for an independent inquiry into the events on 9/11. He has NOT held anyone in the Bush administration accountable for war-crimes, etc.etc etc. Citizenbfk, I think we all are aware of you adoration and "do-no.wrong" attitude towards Obama, but I do NOT... @thisnamecantbetaken -- take it as a lecture if you want but you asked a question and I responded (notice your question mark). I'm afraid you got it all wrong (above). Where are you getting your information. It's just NOT right. If you don't want my comments just ban me from your clips. No skin off my back. I read what interest me and respond how I think.- TN you NAILED the "has" and the "has not's". and, citizenbfk, I'm afraid you got it all wrong (above). Where are YOU getting your information. It's just NOT right. have a nice day! Normally I find citizen's perspectives pretty reasonable, but I have to agree with TN's concerns over the things Obama needs to do to restore the law of liberty we were raised to believe in, but hasn't. It's why I didn't vote for him. He much prettier politically, smarter and eloquent than Bush could ever dream of being, but he doesn't have the political strength to defy the overlords he answers to, the same one's Bush danced with for eight years. If he is who he claimed he is in the campaign, his very first act the very first day he held office would be the restoration of Habeus Corpus, followed on closely by all the other points TN mentions. He should be out there pushing for the end of ... thisnamecantbetaken's interpretation of what has been reported in the news is accurate, I believe. The latest report of Obama's policy of indefinite detention AFTER somebody has been acquitted is completely inconsistent with what he said before the election about what he would do as president and what we're being asked to believe he is doing. It's only 6 months have past. May be, he reserved something to do and for the next 3,5 years? This clip wasn't intended to be about Obama, (but if I feel someone is unduly attacking me or being patronizing, I WILL bite back.) I do apologize though, to c-bfk, if I came on a little strong, but words like "pathetic" and being accused of "giving up" or not doing anything, do irk me, because that is the last thing I intend to do. I will ALWAYS try to keep people's eye on the ball and that ball is, the slow creep away from freedom and the rights of the "little people" compared to the "Establishment", the moving away from "decency" and the rule of law etc. The concentration of power in the hands of the few. Health care, more jobs etc is all good, but it matters little in the big scheme of t... Typo. That darker perspective of which BBear speaks of...", of course. Here's a link about the Cyberserurity Act; http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/04/cybersecurity-act The "establishment" have mastered the act of distracting people. They pit Left against Right. They divide and conquer. They pretend to give us "security" while taking away our rights. All the time, they give a little and take a lot. (See the clip content) I am not pro-Obama, nor am I anti-Obama. I just want to live in peace and freedom and have some rights to protect me, against those who would wish to take that away. That's about it. It seems this clip and comments has touched some nerves and some issues far from those mentioned in the clip which I was commenting on. The clip, New American Manifesto, whined about my lack of freedom to have fireworks, text messages, reality shows, Wal-Mart, soft drinks, tanning beds, anti-depressive medication, worship the military and be apathetic: Quote: "You can take our history. Just don't take our apathy." While the author complains of "our apathy," our now Democratic-controlled Congress with the new Democratic President has passed the biggest public spending bill in our history, with spending priorities for jobs, education, energy programs, senior citizens, families, unions, equ... citizenbfk, mentioning "our apathy" was purely ironical and definitely is not worth of such moving rebuttal from you. Sure, for the first six months the administration have done already a lot, especially if we will take into consideration that environment of political madness left from its predecessors. Healing our society from this disease is most important task for Obama now. IMHO @aklimento - What is "worthy," of my reply is probably best for me to judge. The false info and negativity in this thread is all too typical. At least you realize there has been an improvement, a relief from some of the political madness that has ruled our country for the last eight years. Indeed, that is a Very good point to realize which perhaps some of the Obama critics fail to consider as they join forces and ally themselves with warmongers, racist, liars, corrupt politicians, true secrecy and true growing Republican fascism..and corporate and Superrich exploitation of the people. The President really was out there yesterday fighting hard for a national health system....God bless his... |
