Politics is a contact sport. Women candidates don’t get a free pass. Even if Obama HAD meant it, the mature thing to do would be to brush it off and keep focused on the issues. Clearly, the GOP can't handle that. What a bunch of whiners.

You mean they should have handled it with the same maturity that the Obama camp handled Obama being in the same commercial with a white woman? Give me a break. If Obama can't handle being criticized for personal attacks he makes then maybe he shouldn't make them. Change my ass.

She opened the door with the "pit bull with lipstick" comment and yes, having her in the camping doesn't change the last 8 years of Republican rule or McSame policies and politics. In other words she is the lipstick on the Republican pig, and IT still one ugly MOFO.

A bit crude, to say the least. Best leave those kinds of attacks to Bidden. That is what VPs on the campaign are for.

But I thought Obama was supposed to be opposed to personal attacks. I thought he was above the mud slinging. Yet here he is, knee deep in the mud slinging with both hands. Talk about more of the same.

Both McCain and Palin have stood up against their own party when it comes to ethics, but not so with Obama and Biden who are two of their party's most loyal votes.

He is opposed to it. Reasonable people know that the "pig with lipstick" comment wasn't personal, except for those building conspiracy theories.

McCain who caved on torture, a member of the Keating Five and Palin who is under investigation stood up to their party? Yeah, then why is it that Rove is running McCain campaign, eh?

McCain is no maverick and Palin ain't no reformer. Unless you count selling jets on eBay (or trying to) some kind of reform.

And guess who used the phrase before:

And so is John McCain. Speaking about Hillary Clinton….

McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health-care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s plan, he said it was “eerily reminiscent” of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the 1990s.

“I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said of her proposal.
You know what, that does not offend me. I may disagree ...

I guess there were no reasonable Obama supporters in the crowd. Judging by their response, they saw it as an attack on Palin.

Yep, they loved this almost as much as they loved it when he gave Hillary the finger.

"Putting lipstick on a pig" is just a good-ol' boy way of saying "To gild the gilded lily".
