You'd be forgiven for thinking it was for comparisions but you need to know the identity (bio-details) of those you want to kill first. So this machine is simply for collecting bio-data on people. Therefore, the executions have little or nothing to do with it.

However, little stories should not take away from the fact that this war is wrong. It is very easy to get bogged down with the details and forget the reason why the war was started in the first place.
