I love the "Takahashi's Law" bit. My introduction to anime and manga was with Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 books... I still have a very soft spot for them Very funny and as far as anime is concern, very true. I'm an otaku myself! The vampire isn't _always_ the bad guyThe vampire is almost always the hot guy. Saaaaaake! The coolest weapon is still the sword.Who doesn't want one? One thing I learned from Bleach: Black tom cats are really tattooed women who kick butt. Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 booksI didn't know that there were that many cursed pools of water.. Yoruichi! I love Bleach. That's her name!! She is the epitome of coolness. I always thought whatsherface's brother, Byakuya, I think, was pretty hot for an androgynous drawing.. Kuchiki Rukia. Have you noticed? We're geeking out. Baaakaaaa! KAWAAAAIIIII! Hahahaha! Bakaaa! Kawaaiiii! Yes, half of a fighter's dialogue must be delivered in prolonged screams. I love this clip. I adore crazy Japanese cartooons. You and a lot of peeps out there. Soft spot forever for Hellsing(Alucard rocks!!!!), Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rurouni Kenshin and NARUTO(Ramen dattebayooooo!!!!!) The comments on these clips are too funny Sodesyuone...I don't know how to spell that....demo, watshino hontoni happy that we amuse other fellow clippers. Since we're talking about soft spots, the first full anime series I've thoroughly enjoyed was Full Metal Alchemist...the game's alright on the DS...(next on my list of games to get is Bleach!) I think the first full anime series I've seen (and enjoyed) is A Dog of Flanders.. or is it A Little Princess? Anyway, I remember being 10 years old, waking up and worrying about nothing else but missing A Dog of Flanders. I watched a dozen more series since then. I also love, love Hayao Miyazaki! Full Metal Alchemist: I like the name Edward Elric. Hey coco, guess what I found. Check out the image gallery. It's hilarious. I have the Bleach game on PSP. Everything's in Kanji though.. I think the only series I ever watched was Space Battleship Yamato, marketed in the US as Star Blazers. That was a great show! I've seen that too, mousie. Mwahaha, if I keep up with this shameless otaku-dom I might beat gumby's comment count! Check out Hayao Miyazaki's work. Very romantic, and your daughter might like them too. I suggest you start her off with My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away. If she can't read yet, I'm sure there are dubbed versions that are as great. OMG!! Awesome, Haraya!! Uh, I meant arigato gozaimasu. There we go. Miyzaki's stuff is great, though that wormy thing in Mononoke Hime was a little freaky...Mousie, your daughter might also like Kiki's Delivery Service...and The Cat Returns... Do itashimashite, coco! Yes, The Baron is charming, isn't he? For a cat.. Oh my mercy, how my daughter loves Kiki's Delivery Service! Just yesterday she was telling me to pretend to be Kiki's mother and give her the broom I was using. Haha. Thanks for the other recommendations, Coco and Haraya. I grew up with anime in the 80s (all of it in Spanish) because its was a cheap and easy way for local stations to fulfill their FCC children's show obligations. From Mazinger Z to Battle of the Planets, Voltron, and even Little Women, an entire generation grew up around the stuff. And I am still a fan to this day. Ani-Mondays on the sci-fi channel is a sure fix. |
