She says: "It’s OK. We’ve been part of the greatest generation. We had our turn. Now we get to sit back and enjoy our pie while someone else worries about the calories. The new guy has the energy and the new ideas. Senator Obama, I hope you’re up for the challenge."

Thanks grandpa! You hit it all on the head. This is the best clip I've ever seen here. I've read it many times over. I put it in my folder of 'worthy words.'

Today...so sad, so sad.

But Obama's election will be also a triumph in our American History. Although his political ideas are nothing about being black, his political issues nothing about being black -- it seem's he is black (gasp!) and there is significance in that. (He's actually half-black).

Karl Rove dreamed of a "permanent Republican Majority" (you want documentation on this? ask.com gave me 29,100 hits - see for yourself), in effect an attempt to establish one-party rule in the US. The generation of the Reagan/Bush I/Bush II administration saw the transition in governance from the "greatest generation" to a group far inferior in their motives, more interested in geting, consolidating and holding onto power than in preserving a heritage for the future.
