Huckabee pardoned more people, many of them violent offenders, than his three predecessors combined. Most of the pardons were granted on the basis of the prisoners having "converted" or ortherwise found faith, while in prison.

When a state prosecutor wrote to Huckabee to object to the extraordinary number of pardons, Cory Cox, the governor's deputy counsel and criminal justice advisor, replied with the following statement:

Dear -----,

The governor read your letter and laughed out loud.

He wanted me to respond to you. I wish you success as you cut down on your caffeine consumption.

Wayne Dumond was not the only violent offender who was pardoned over the objections of prosecuto...
