Great and sound advice. In some cases I think that I am that "older person" with whom to have a "meaningful conversation" Great advice. Nothing makes you realize the 'important' things more than losing the 'ones' who are important! Some can live a whole life time without a single wake up call as to what is really important in life and live empty, hollow, meaningless lives. They are truly like sheeple. If facing death and mortality is a wake up call, it seems like I've had 1000 of those since I was born. My Dad always said, if you want to know if something is truly important or not, ask yourself; "What will it matter in 100 years?" If the answer is; nothing... then let it go. You'll live longer and happier if you do. I always remember nothing can ever be done by one, or even a few people. If all personal achievements are considered, it is clearly seen much of the success rests on the contribution of others, whether we admit it, or not. Even the efforts that have seemed unimportant at first glance, can be seen to be critical in retrospect. Very often all that is needed is a thank you. We are all far more alike than we care to admit. Death can be a frame of mind, assumed far too early, and with absolutely no information. Being true to yourself, can allow you to be true to other people. |
