This photo shows me three things 'boys' - their immaturity, their lack of intelligence and their lack of SELF-respect.

Unintelligent - because they lack originality. An intelligent person would find an intelligent way to give voice to their frustrations as in writing, poetry, art, music, photography etc. How much intelligent does it take to kick inanimate objects? But it does take intelligence to realize, in advance, the foolishness and utter futility of such an action.

Lack of self-respect - aggressive hate-filled people are usually self-loathing. A person with a healthy self-esteem has no need to vent so violently and physically. Anger is always an outward demonstration of an inner anguish, fear, loss etc. The root of the problem lies within.

A healthy person realizes that it's not what happens to u...

I've thought about it and I haven't been entirely honest with you, or myself. I am offended because these were 'sacred' buildings. I am NOT a church-going Christian (but I am a Christian), nor do I have ANY denominational affiliations. But I live in a 3rd world country where Christianity plays a major role in supporting, feeding, clothing, medicating, housing, training and comforting some of the most desperately poor people on the planet.

Coming onto Clipmarks has opened my eyes to the extent of the western world's hatred and loathing of anything religious, especially Christianity, and the attacks have been relentless and brutal. This was just another one.

If you were to witness the go...

and it starts with every individual.

It's easy to get into the sewer of life and fling turds. But it takes strength, courage and conviction to maintain dignity, courtesy and self-respect.

By all means criticize, but do it intelligently and civilly and don't resort to gratuitous rudeness..

So, JohnWaterman, let's start again. I won't nitpick if you won't churchkick!

Michelle,

Than you for your thoughtful comments.

I am an atheist, and I find it a little annoying that relion/religious buildings etc are given special treatment. I realise that "kicking a church" is silly, but that is all it is - not in anyway "evil" or unpleasant. I could kick a library, public convenience, school or abertoire - why is kicking a church so much worse?

Anyway I'm very pleased to meet you, and again thanks for the interest (and I'm glad you liked the Rackham illustrations)

Thank you, John. Frankly, if I weren't a Christian, I probably would have extreme difficulty becoming one, on account of the fact that so many of us are thoroughly obnoxious. But despite this, much good, good work gets done (I think it's difficult for humans to hold two conflicting opinions in contention, so it's easier at times to jettison the baby along with the bath water - the good along with the bad. And that's when, I think, we lose the human face behind every religion/ideology/creed etc. Behind every belief system there is a human being who feels, who bleeds and who is passing through this world but once, and then ever so briefly!)

I'm looking forward to some more great clips ...
