If we haven't solved our problems within the next decade, even these
theoretical godlike AIs aren't going to be able to help us.
It seems to be that in each decade for the last 50 years, we have faced certain disaster for which there is no escape. Yet, remarkably we seem to be wealthier, better fed, liberty worldwide is advancing, wealth is becoming more dispersed throughout the world, famine has decreased, the environment (despite the propaganda) is cleaner, technology is reshaping the world for the better, most economies in the world are growing rapidly, and the general outlook is good. If the singularity comes, then it comes. If not, the world will continue on it's normal pace of incremental improvement.
