Ya almost wish they would just leave it alone, lol. We can't help ourselves.. We have to leave our finger prints everywhere. It's why we are here. To understand and discover. They are taking steps not to contaminate the source by examining the water AFTER it has frozen and AFTER it has moved away from the lake through the movement of the glaciers. This is so incredible! This is almost as exciting as discovering life on another planet, which will probably also happen in my lifetime. If life could exist for 15 million years under all that ice, life could exist almost anywhere. Makes one want to visit the caves on Mars. These caves? (Second image down) Very cool. That cave picture just gives me chills. Many years ago I went to a National park in Idaho called Craters of the Moon. There's a huge volcanic cave there (a lava tube, actually) called Indian Cave. This picture of the entrance hole looks very similar to that hole on Mars. Just imagine what might be down there! |
