But in 147 others, Guillory said the court records showed, the police seized cash, jewelry, cellphones and sometimes even automobiles from motorists but never found any contraband or charged them with any crime. Of those, Guillory said he managed to contact 40 of the motorists directly -- and discovered that all but one of them were black.

The process apparently is so routine in Tenaha that Guillory discovered pre-signed and pre-notarized police affidavits with blank spaces left for an officer to fill in a description of the property being seized.

Talk about in your face racism. It seems that there are still pockets of hate and intimidation festering here and there. It's sad that once again we are confronted with a southern town that reinforces the stereotype of the hick redneck.

Sounds like that town needs a Rambo to pass through and set it straight

Nobody complains as it means taking on the local police.

What can a person do in this situation? You're driving through town and get pulled over. They start piling on the charges and your choice is to visit their jail where you will be completely under their thumb so you decide to give in. Then what? Who do you contact? Your own local PD or just get a lawyer?

This is a private fear I always have when dealing with the police. It really comes down to your word against theirs. Frankly I'm glad to see more police mounted video cameras. I'd honestly like them to be improved to show more than just through their windshield.

Film the cops yourself. If you feel are getting pulled over fire up that video mode on you camera or cell phone and let the cop threaten you on video.
