No. The reporters are putting out spin. The planet is about twice the size of Neptune and not earth-like at all. It merely orbits its sun at a distance similar to our Earth and the sun. Saying that makes it "earth-like" is like saying a basketball is edible because it shares the characteristic of being round with an apple.
