I can really see how some people would prefer the company of mechanics. What a perfect way to establish control in a relationship and to eliminate all the messiness of love. It is another symptom of our culture of non-responsibility. In a mechanical love relationship there is no need for personal responsibility to another. There is no barrier to indulge our deepest desires.

We have effectively removed the last quality of which we are so proud: our humanity.
