Aside from the various criticisms of why the fascism analogy fails, the larger point is that it remains folly to try to coin a term that adequately characterizes all the groups and individuals that the White House would like to cram under this umbrella -- from Saddam to Hezbollah. Fascism is a social contract based in militarism. This is primarily what Islam is if you substitute "social" with "socio-religious". It is militant in it's nature and dominating in it's ideals. Notice how Ahmedinijed has changed his tone from talk about nukes to talk about "debating" best world government.. Also consider the militant and crushing control the states that support terror have on their populous. While I didn't initially agree with the term fascism, I came to realize militant islam combined with it's ideals is, in fact the very definition of Fascism. I don't kow - klugman at it again with the standard left wing implications..... When you see Hezbollah standing in formation with Nazi like salutes vowing to destroy another country for some convoluted reason or another it looks very much like a form fascism. Maybe we should get rid of the term Islamofacism and replace it with "Nice guys who want to kill us" - NGWWTKU The interesting thing is that the term was coined by a French socialist (can't recall his name) in the 80s as as descriptive term for the Khomeni regime. Islamic Totalitarianism is the phrase. When Iran decided that it had the moral right to issue fatwa's outside it's own borders, America should should have demanded a restatement or declared war.
