There are actually more kid only sites forming and many on my space do also have pages on other networks for children.

The bad part is that since children's pages are set as private by default, their parents cannot see their child's profile or friends list unless they are on their childrens' friends list. It is hard to intercede if you can't see the trouble brewing.

Adding the voluntary private pages by questionable mature pages has reduced the ability of curious children from getting a page just to find tacky pages. It also makes it a more pleasant environment for me, because there are things that I do not want to see, and I didn't join for that wildness.

The appearance of more groups and buiseness forums, and peer networking by educational backgrounds has attracted a wider range of adults who may want to interact. Also there are more friend groups that are set for employees of a company that are set to private if you are not employees. So there is a diversity of new users and a high number of people who promote thier talents that are not interested in running a full site themself.
