Leave neural architectonic alone. You will never connect it to the conciousness level. This is a subject for philosophy, not neurology or cybernetic.

If the level of consciousness has to do with how much integrated information a conscious entity generates, it is essential that we determine to what extent different neural architectures can generate integrated information.
I think that if he's working to a false premise to begin with (and I think he is), he's wasting his time. He must first demonstrate that neural integration is a determinant of consciousness to begin with, before he can presume any "level" of it.

A large neural set may or may not make a person any more "conscious" than unconscious, otherwise how could we ever become unconscious (given our clear and obvious neural nets)?
