I think this will be huge for ratings...bad for music talent-- would be helpful to have someone in the field of music to be judging-- but i think she has such a huge following it will, at least initially, draw a huge audience

Works for me. Ellen brings a LOT of talent to the table, should be able to put Simon on a short leash in about 2 minutes, and will serve Paula's signature heartfelt empathy without the overwrought drama. This would be a win for Idol.
