All of the arse-kissing by underpaid professionals on behalf of low-income youth is done on volunteer time and with volunteer dollars for a cause that needs perpetually citizen lobbying to avoid the cutting room floor. Some of my colleagues have put in over 6 years with this guy above trying to warmly reach out and bring real, living breathing beneficiaries of the program to tell them their story, patiently tolerating his brush-offs, hoping to persuade him. Plus, unlike me, they are genuinely Minnesota nice and try to use more honey than vinegar. I know my weaknesses, and controlling my temper is not one of them. They are being more sincere because they have the capacity to seek good where it is largely invisible, whereas I'm pretty sure this Representative is as hollow as a car dealership owner and not worth the time. (Why are a high percentage of these guys such awful people?)

BTW, Rep. Bachmann's aide lied to us last year. Said she couldn't meet with our group for our scheduled appointment because she was off voting on the floor. She opened her office door only a few moments later, a good 250 yards at least from the Capital bldg, and was saying goodbye to rich suits. Her integrity is subterranean, especially since she parades her foster children as symbols of her holiness. My foster care parents were a bit like that, and none of us could stand them either. Real life evil do-gooders.
