I realize some areas don't have a bike trail, but really, to get out and ride on a road with cars, when cars have such large blind spots, or where something on the car's dash the size of a pack of cigarettes can hide a bicycle rider from view--I just don't understand bike riders who play Russian roulette with their lives. I was hit by a car while a senior in high school and haven't ridden on a road since. Fortunately, I wasn't seriously hurt, because the driver was trying to slow and miss me, but I've never ridden on a road with cars again. And bike riders demanding 3 foot lanes on roads is ridiculous, when all states have roads with na... Sometimes things are just accidents. You can't legislate an accident. This poor girl. so sad Her little face says it all If you ride a bicycle, don't ride alone. Seventeen years ago, my wife, an experienced athlete and bicyclist, who is very familiar with the rules of the road, was struck from behind by an automobile driven by a relative of a police officer. I received a call from the hospital emergency room that she was unconscious and might not pull through. Fortunately, thanks to her superior physical condition, she has fully recovered. The accident-scene investigating police officer, who was not present at the time, despite the evidence that my wife's bike was hit directly in the back and there were skid marks that indicated a panic braking attempt by the driver of the car (the driver had 9 points on...
