Johanna_G says: This case highlights what it's like to be a girl imprisoned in the FLDS world. Have no tolerance for a community, even a religious one, that so estranges its young from shared values, including liberty.Ellen Goodman, Washington Post Writers Group. Examples like this just makes it all the more justified to keep putting our blind faith into religions. How dare anyone challenge the belief in religions. How dare anyone challenge God on what he commands! ------------------------------------------------- Now, who is it that get to claim what God commands? There are many people who are making this claims of what God commands and most of these claims do not match each other. So, who do you decide who is telling the truth. Easy, the one who can prove that what they claim. The problem with this is, not a single one of these professing to know what God says can prove t... Religion is like anything else - it has its negative and its positives. Simply dumping on religion because would be irrational, since it's people who do the deeds. Stalin wasn't exactly a holy man, yet he did what he did. As they say 'Anything that can be used - can be abused', religion certainly falls in this category as well. But there are people like Mother Teresa and many others like her, who do what they do in the name of religion. Certainly can't fault these people for what they do. The rational thing to do is to look in the mirror and not blame something for own faults, whatever they might be. It's simply a cheap excuse to do so and that's irrational. RecordSage - "The rational thing to do is to look in the mirror and not blame something for own faults, whatever they might be. It's simply a cheap excuse to do so and that's irrational. You are makes no sense here. --------------------------- There is no amount of good that can counter balance the bad things that religion has caused. From the religions of the sun Gods etc. that required human sacrifice to the Christian and Islamic religions that have killed in God's name, the number of and types of negative things they have done, no amount of good that some in the religions may have done will ever justify the existence for these religions. You would have to be one sick puppy to think t... The rational thing to do is to look in the mirror and not blame something for own faults, whatever they might be. It's simply a cheap excuse to do so and that's irrational. Even though your sentences made no sense, it was clear that you were attempting to be rude and insulting with them. The only people who have ever gotten rude and nasty with me on clipmarks are those who claim to be religious. (Claim to be either directly or by their defense of religion) It is very interesting how the only people that get rude and nasty about comments they don't like are the people who have a strong connection to a religion. You would think that people of these religions would be the kinder more t... Religion is not "just like anything else". People use it to gain power over others, including governments. In America you have the ultra right wing conservative evangelist movement which is continually digging it's way into politics. In Australia we have a catholic archbishop who recently said that politicians would be punished if they didn't vote a certain way on an issue. Religion developed to explain why the sun comes up and why the seasons happen. It became defunct when science began offering better answers. And I'm not jealous of those that hear religious voices. George Bush is one. The pope claims to hear voices which guide him in his decision making. Mother Theresa sat and prayed for ... What I said wasn't that difficult to understand... but regardless, I wasn't trying to insult you or anything of the kind... that would be a waste of time... I was simply presenting a different opinion... you want to take it as an insult - that's your business. It is people, NOT religions that commit the crimes. Some (like jihadists for example) commit them in the name of religion or so they claim, but I still say that religion can be used for both good and bad, just like anything else. You can take a car and drive it to work, and some idiot takes his and plows it into a bunch of students at a University. There are countless examples with just about anything. Certainly religion could be ... RecordSage - I apologize if I jumped to an incorrect conclusion about being insulted. The worth of religion's existence is subjective. I can understand and respect your opinion and to a limited degree, I can even agree with you on some of the points you make. I looked back at the earlier comments and I do not think I commented on Mother Theresa. My goal is to point out the limits of authority which any faith can provide. No person can justify the use of authority beyond themselves when that authority is derived through their faith. You can not proclaim a book to be the word of god and then use that claim to justify the use of authority over others. how many perverts are among us.. someday we will fing no normal people at all. damn http://rohypnol.us What is wrong with you, rohypnol?
