OH MAN I love what music does to us. I'm a player. Singer songwriter. I write a lot of humorus stuff. I also write a lot of heavy stuff. I have a song called "Lying gives me gas" it's very silly and funny. People just laugh and giggle all the way through it. When it's over they are all smiles and perky. After that I will do "Don't give your heart to a dog" for anyone who has ever lost a pet, it's heart wrenching! I watch the people as the dog song unfolds. Women start wiping their eyes and covering their mouths. Men start fiddling with something at their table like a napkin, utensil or something, some (the men) will get up and leave, as to not be seen crying. It's an amazing thing to watch! ...

I cannot imagine my life without music, but it will be one day as I am going deaf. I listen as often as i can to remember the music.

Music has a big place in my life as well.

A friend of mine used to dance to his "inner music" which was pretty cool. It was obvious that he moved to some internal rhythm when he danced and it wasn't music he was listening to from outside.

Did you ever read the Bruce Chatwin book "Songlines"? He speaks about a primal rhythm that connects music across the planet (across cultures) and how aboriginal people used song as a way of mapping terrain.

@ celestialdancer

There was a time in my life when I was "in there" with the lyrical writing end of the music industry. I was there in the midst of hundreds of songs being tossed around. It always amazed me how songs about the same subject matter, with near melodies, from completely different ends of the world, would show up around the same time. I haven't read the book you speak of but for me there is definately a world wide primal heartbeat that throbs within the souls and minds of the creative universe.

Good Clip clip!

<<<<If there is a future wave of wellness on this planet, of harmony, of peace, of an end to war, of mutual understanding, of equality, of fairness, I don't expect it will come from a government, a military force or a corporation. I no longer even expect it to come from the religions of the world, which together seem to have brought us as much war as they have peace. If there is a future of peace for humankind, if there is to be an understanding of how these invisible, internal things should fit together, I expect it will come from the artists, because that's what we do.>>> Wow! Great article. Tx.
