egoldstein says: In light of some of the recent conversations on the site about the pop-able character limit, I’ve been thinking about some of the factors that influence whether a clip gets popped. It seems to me that these are 5 factors that play a key role in determining a clip’s “pop-worthiness” As a result of all of the dialogue that has been going on regarding the pop limit and site additions and changes I have thought that a "cliptorial" or sorts would be good. I guess you read my mind. Thanks for this! Aarh sheesh! Do we have to?? Don't like the pic idea, but okay then...but no Yoda remarks then okay folks!! Thisname - you have a picture. I think he's talking about the default smiley faces. Oh thank heavens! I'm gonna rush back to my profile and get my mug off again quicker than you can say...whatever! I almost felt like a flasher! Eric, you covered 'em ALL very well. My Clipper feature stands out and is the unique feature among all else. Really good tips, and this clip itself is an example of how to do it right. I stuck with a very simple, essential profile picture that speaks me, but I'm still working on improving my "clever, compelling titles"! Adding the words sex, penis and orgasm, seems to help also, whether it is clip worthy or not. LOL Debbyski, I've been laughing on the floor rolling for minutes Upload a profile picture. This is very true. I myself tend to somewhat ignore the clips posted by clippers without a profile image. To the end of inspiring comments I'd recommend clipping on a religious, "war on terror" or meta-clipmarks theme (such as this). Giving a clip a title such as "Bush declares the clipper member of axis of evil" should get you some attention. Thanks! I'm new and it is so true...I tend to not look at clips without profile pictures and vague, one-word titles. I've avoided both of those things, but you have to do more than that, at least at first. Obviously adding more clips that interest people will help to receive pops. I think adding productive comments and interacting in the clipmark community will help as well. debbyski and ghiberti, you guys are veterans! V, you know we all love your profile image! Welcome to the community bara11green! I find myself using the search clips feature more often these days. I like hunting for the ones that I think are "pop-worthy". getting to pop them first is an honor, getting others to pop the same clip is an added bonus. I guess I'd like to think of myself as a clip scavenger. jeaaahhh. diggin in da clips I'm having so much fun. Laughing myself silly. You guys and gals are the best. So glad I found ya. jeaaahhh. diggin in da clipsSometimes, I save my pop for the time when the "popworthy" clip I have in mind is near the bottom. That way I don't immediately 'bury' the clips I just popped. I have pop-tactics too, hehe. dorine1722, same here! haraya, that's what really addicted clippers do: they find new ways of using clipmarks and havin fun with it nearly every day. That reminds me that I have to follow a lot more of you guys. Following is one of the best ways to find unpopped clips that need to be deflowered... err popped. wurdzgurl said: I have thought that a "cliptorial" or sorts would be good.I have to tell you that word in quotes, sent me to the floor as I initially misread it for something else. LOL still. It does take on a whole different meaning when read that way doesn't it! *LMAO* Yeah, it sure does! I save pops sometimes too, I've still got my pop for this clip ready and waiting for the right moment too ... I've been known to withhold a pop or two. What I hate is that when i'm browsing around and find a clip that I haven't seen before and I pop it it doesn't get popped into the latest pops box. So then I'll hold onto a pop just to keep it there for a little bit longer. They don't? Mine always do...I think. If a pop doesn't work for you, you can always add a comment and get the clip to the top of the comment line at least. Better than nothing, eh? I think the page has to reload before your pop will show up. i guess writing about it can help getting pop? @sidegik - spot on - create a compelling reason for someone to read your clip and you're more than half way there. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't use clipmarks for popping. I look for comments. I clip under the poplimit so I can share but what I'm really seeking is discussion. You could remove the pop button and pop sort and I'd barely notice. I usually pop for art or cleverness. Most of things I pop I also comment on. I've learned a great deal from clipmarks and its not just howtos and headlines. From discussions I have learned that the world has very interesting ideas and hold things dear that never occurred to me. I also learn how my passions stack up against the rest of the world. I notice how opinions change and I judge society's meme thermometer by it. The world gets hot about injustices an... skwirlinator, in a way i am like you. i popped when the clip is clever, artistic, funny. i don't pop politics unless it is funny. i always pop a good techno tip, science, health clips. btw, i also pop if the clipper add some interesting comment. Overall, i am a trigger happy popper. |
