I don't buy it at all. Most people don't have a natural tendency to mock or make fun of visiblly ill people, and wouldn't that be the case if what these researchers say is true.

This just strikes me as a justification for prejudice against and the unfair treatment of the overweight. "It's not my fault I made fun of Bill. It's my brain."

That's a bunch of baloney. In many cultures, being fat is a sign of wealth, and is also considered highly attractive physically.
