wildcat says: "If patterns of neuronal activity are similar enough, they do not develop an entirely different dynamics, as would be expected from a chaotic system. Quite in contrast, they conform to one another in the long-term", Could this new finding get me out of a speeding ticket? I believe this is what Frank Herbert was referring to in his last Dune novel, when the Old Man/Woman were trying to capture Duncan Idaho in the Noship. He referred to them (the thinking machines) as trying to surround(predict behavior and capture) the Noship in a Nomothetic Net, which is a term for related data points that usually represent particular behaviors. These behaviors could be considered the result of neuronal activity in humans. Very interesting. Struck by the number of times 'time' or a related word are used in explaining the research of Timme and co. |
