Aribeth says: “It took 4 million years to develop our unique human foot and our consequent distinctive form of gait, a remarkable feat of bioengineering. Yet, in only a few thousand years, and with one carelessly designed instrument, our shoes, we have warped the pure anatomical form of human gait, obstructing its engineering efficiency, afflicting it with strains and stresses and denying it its natural grace of form and ease of movement head to foot.” When I was very very young I always went barefoot in summer and any shoes I did have were always too big. I had healthy (but big wide) feet until I got older and had to wear shoes. Now I have a painful bunion even though I make sure my shoes fit and anything over a flat shoe gives me a backache. I'd like to go back to barefoot but it's scary what' on the street. Heels... awwwwwwwwww so shoe shopping is the pointless demise to my feet .....but a girl just has to asessorize so heels it is! To get ready for a part in a show, I spent the entire summer of 1995 barefoot. It was painful at first, but by the end of the summer I had great calluses, and was standing straighter and walking more fluidly. If it was socially acceptable, I'd probably be shoeless most of the time. I'd like to be able to go barefood again myself. Grass underfoot or even warm pavement feels so good. |
