lifecyce1898 says: Current national average $3.34 California leads the nation in pricey gas, at $3.74 a gallon. Want even higher gas prices? Vote McCain And that figure $!.46 is about how much we Aussies pay for a litre. Because everyone knows that the president has a secret slider switch under his desk which he uses to control the gas prices. Bill would have given us higher prices too, but Monica's hat kept bumping them back down. What, your not going to find a way to blame it on Clinton? Cant stand the truth so you bring up the Monica issue. Truly pathetic of you Repugs. So to your feeble try I say this. Better to have a President screwing an intern. Then one who screws the entire country. change entire country to planet! Well at least Clinton hummer didn't cost 4,000 American lives....and counting! In fact that hummer doesn't burn fossil fuels or contribute to global warming : ) I'm sorry. I forgot that humor doesn't play well for those on the left, especially when it involves Clinton. The point I was trying to make (that was completely ignored) is that the president doesn't set the price of gas. Bush doesn't, Clinton didn't... The only one that tried was Carter and that led to huge gas lines and shortages. If anyone has any blame it would be congress for not allowing us to drill for reserves here and reduce our dependency on foreign oil. For taxing the crap out of oil companies and gasoline (while oil companies had record profits, they paid even more in taxes than they made in profits). But even those wouldn't completely control the price of oil and gas. They woul... Guess it part delivery and partly the audience. Guess it's far fetched to consider a connection to a President with family ties to big oil and friends of the Saudi royals starting a war without cause against a major oil producer resulting in huge price increases. Don't mind me, I'm just another wacko conspiracy theorist. (G) hope the humor plays better with the right because the joke seems to be on all of us. Iraq is producing more oil now than they were prior to the war, so exactly what does that have to do with the price of gasoline? What is driving it up is increased demand in China and other developing nations (out of the president's control), OPEC (out of the president's control), trader speculation (out of the president's control), and the lack of any new refining capacity or new drilling here at home (mostly out of the president's control). But hey, why look at the facts when it is easier to just blame Bush? |
