Wu style Tai Chi must be taught properly from a learned master. You would be doing a great disservice to yourself to learn from a video tape or book, even though there are countless instructions like these on the market today. It’s a misconception that Wu style Tai Chi is a slow martial art that only focuses on quiet meditation. While this is true, this is only part of the training lesson. Most Tai Chi classes only teach this part, but there is much more to it. Wu style Tai Chi is, in fact, a true martial art of itself. There is sparring and Tai Chi weapons training, but this only comes after the initial slow movements are taught and mastered. The reason is that you must learn how to do it slow before you learn how to do it fast.
