The media sources you mention (with the exception of the AP) are all Detroit metro media. Trust me, in Chicago, no press feels the need to remind people that Da Mayor is a member of the Democratic party. Locals know. This critique is pretty unfair.

Other than the AP... The same AP that provides stories to news organizations from FOX news to the NYTimes, the same AP that is the source of stories at ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, and pretty much every newspaper in the nation. Other than the AP, this story is totally unfair.....

So local stories don't mention the party affiliation of nationally prominent politicians? Show me one example like this where a Republican isn't identified as a Republican in any sort of scandal. Just one.

Sorry, my local media is Chicago, and we don't have any Republican politicans around here, so I couldn't tell you!
Seriously, though, maybe it's just a case of, hmm, mayor of Detroit named Kwame. Sound like a Republican to you?
I do recall, however, Fox News identifying Larry Craig as a Democrat. I also recall a story about the corrupt William Jefferson (D) of Louisiana being identified on screen with a picture of John Conyers(D). Oops or intentional?

Wow - name profiling. Quick one - George - Republican or Democrat? 1972 Democrat Presidential candidate!

The issue of party identification being in the first three words of a story when its a Republican and paragraph 26 (if mentioned at all) when a Democrat has a long and documented history. Go to www.mediaresearch.org, but beware. It will probably hurt liberal sensibilities since its a review of media bias.

Its invisible to liberals since 50 years of liberal bias in news reporting means that what you read is simply the truth as you understand it - no other options are possible. Its also why there is such conservative amusement at the liberal castigation of Fox News. Its like sudde...

His first name, Kwame, is a Ghanaian name. Quite African, no? I happen to live the reality of black-white America everyday, so I suppose, yes, it is sometimes easy to profile black names (not so "white" ones.) One of my co-workers and I share a first name, but we are of different races.

And don't mistake my statement about the political reality of Chicago to be praise. What we have in this city is an old-school machine and a rubber-stamping city council. Da Mayor was just reelected with 70% of the vote. Democracy, indeed.

As to political leanings, I am of no doubt that the majority of journalists and reporters are liberal. But it is not journalists who decide what stories to rep...
