Its also why there is such conservative amusement at the liberal castigation of Fox News. Its like suddenly one network was willing to break ever so slightly from the normal bias and you would think the world fell in. CBS, NBC, ABC, PMSNBC, CNN, PBS, every major newspaper (except the WSJ Editorial page), Reuters, AP, AFN - all toe the line. All conservative comments on the liberal bias is quickly dismissed as carping about legitimate journalistic practice. And then one network only hires 70% liberals instead of the 99% and you would think the world fell apart.

So since Chicago has such a diverse political scene as to include no Republicans (sorry record for the Land of Lincoln), I guess its just not a problem there.

His first name, Kwame, is a Ghanaian name. Quite African, no? I happen to live the reality of black-white America everyday, so I suppose, yes, it is sometimes easy to profile black names (not so "white" ones.) One of my co-workers and I share a first name, but we are of different races.

And don't mistake my statement about the political reality of Chicago to be praise. What we have in this city is an old-school machine and a rubber-stamping city council. Da Mayor was just reelected with 70% of the vote. Democracy, indeed.

As to political leanings, I am of no doubt that the majority of journalists and reporters are liberal. But it is not journalists who decide what stories to report on or what will be published. That decision lies with the editors and ultimately with their corporate overlords, not a notoriously liberal bunch.
