If it turned out to be infertile (like mules) would it still produce milk?

I suppose they will be wondering if it can breed. Two different species can produce mules, but when I saw the story, I thought how scientists were always being surprised. The idea that for two creatures to be in the same species they must produce viable offspring is more for the sake of a dictionary definition of species, and nature always has exceptions popping up. I suppose a question may be Can two creatures that were of two species, be exceptions to the point where they produce viable offspring? Sheep and goats are pretty close-in more ways than one it seems. besides which, the number of chemical pollutants in our environment is bound to cause evolution to take a few twists.
